BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, Stage 4 Coach
From a young age I’ve always been passionate about horses. Whilst at school I was an active member of Pony Club, competing on area teams in dressage, showjumping, eventing and mounted games. This gave me a fantastic all round experience and education which helped me to achieve the Pony club H test (horse care) with honours, and aided my decision to focus on eventing as my main discipline.
Experience & Qualifications
I produced my own event horse from a green and difficult 6yr old through to successfully competing at Intermediate/CIC* level. Since his retirement I have enjoyed producing and competing a variety of other young horses and representing the riding club in many area and championship competitions.
My coaching career began with teaching on weekends and school holidays in a riding school whilst completing A-Levels and a BSc (Hons) Equine Science and Management degree. Following this I worked as an Instructor and Assistant Yard Manager at Queen Ethelburga’s College as I completed an MSc in McTimoney Animal Manipulation.
In 2009 I was fortunate enough to be able to set up my own yard where I have backed, produced, schooled and sold horses alongside running a livery business. I am now working freelance as a McTimoney Therapist and BHS Stage 4 Coach whilst also managing the family livery yard.
I work as a freelance coach for all ages and abilities whether riding purely for pleasure or to progress your competition career. I coach at my own yard or can travel out to clients and I regularly run training “clinics” throughout North Yorkshire focusing on Showjumping, Creative Polework and Cross Country.
Being a McTimoney therapist, I am regularly out and about treating a huge variety of horses. I travel throughout Yorkshire keeping clients horses in tip top condition enabling them to live and perform comfortably and to the best of their ability.
